Nov 01, 2003· A kinetics-based methodology and computer program (SUPASIM) has been developed which predicts the flotation performance of operating plant with data obtained from batch scale tests. Validation has been accomplished by the successful simulation of 15 commercial plants treating a variety of sulphide and non-sulphide ores and slags.

To date the performance of more than 20 flotation plants has been predicted, encompassing copper, lead, zinc, nickel, phosphate, pyrite, graphite, cassiterite, platinum and various slags. The method has successfully been used to predict and design four flotation plants using data generated from bench-scale laboratory flotation testwork.

SUPASIM® Flotation simulation program customised by Dave Wiseman Pty Ltd to run in LIMN. The program is used to design and optimise production scale plant. Pilot scale test campaigns have been designed and simulated prior to testing so that the best circuit(s) are run thus saving time and money.
SUPASIM® has also been used to simulate and optimise over sixty other plants. EMC has also developed commercially available software, KinCalc®, which determines flotation kinetics from laboratory and pilot rate test data, graphs test data and results, produces summary tables and stores all data and kinetics in either Access or SQL.
